The Hunger Games retained its hold at the top of the box office, grossing an additional $ 21.5 million and upping its gross to $ 337 million. The Gary Ross directed film has now scored almost $ 500 million globally, a fantastic number for the $ 78 million movie. Roll on Catching Fire.
The Farrelly Brothers directed The Three Stooges had a surprisingly good debut, grossing $ 17 million over the weekend. Helped by decent reviews (read ours) the film is on its way to recoup its $ 30 million production budget. The film has been a labour of love from the brothers Farrelly, who have been trying to get a Three Stooges film off the ground for over a decade, and this gross seems to have justified the hard work.
