It’s interesting how random thoughts get your mind going on a tangent. I was sitting back listening to Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket in Dallas talk about the new Muppet movie (yeah I know, odd topic for a sports station). Anyway their conversation got the old Muppet’s theme song stuck in my head for a while. Anyway, I recalled that Jason Segel wrote this movie and in a way it seemed appropriate to me given his comedic nature and the fine writing that went into Forgetting Sarah Marshall, including the Dracula as a puppet show content. Then I remember that Jason did a couple of full frontal shots during the uncut version of Sarah Marshall and things flew off into left field after that.
The fact that Jason’s last writing credit is Sarah Marshall and given the very adult and sexual content of that film I found him an odd choice for the Muppet movie. Then again the two audiences have very little cross over and the kids watching Muppet’s aren’t going to care a lick about him and the adults watching are most likely going to associate him with How I Met Your Mother long before Sarah Marshall. In that case all the studio cares about is the story and whether it will produce with box office receipts.
I have not seen the movie yet, but I do intend to, so I cannot speak to the quality of the film, I just found it odd and worth mentioning.
