Our “psychic” Shawn Spencer played by James Roday is a wise cracking, free wheeler, who has lived his entire life (as seen through occasional flashbacks) shirking duty and always finding the easy way.  His dad on the other hand, a former cop, tried over and over to teach Shawn some responsibility but very little of it stuck.  But despite all the failed effort Henry Spencer, Shawn’s dad played by Corbin Bernsen, was at least able to hone Shawn’s powers of perception.
